Liverpool wanted to sign the 24-year-old last summer from Bayern Munich - but he opted to go back to his first club Dortmund instead as the Reds could not offer European football.

But Gotze has not played as well as he did in his first spell under Klopp at the Westfalenstadion and wants to move on again, this time to England.
