Arsenal injury blow as Alex Iwobi reveals bandaged foot following FA Cup win at Sutton
Iwobi, 20, took a heavy challenge in the first half from Sutton skipper Jamie Collins but stayed on until the second half
ALEX IWOBI may be a casualty of Arsenal's FA Cup win over Sutton.
The playmaker was caught by a hefty challenge during the 2-0 victory last night.
And he later posted a picture on social media of what appeared to be his leg wrapped in a bandage.
Sutton skipper Jamie Collins went through Iwobi after winning the ball with a thunderous challenge towards the end of the first half at Gander Green Lane.
But the Nigeria international managed to play on and kept going until being eventually being replaced by Alexis Sanchez for the final 15 minutes.
Star man Sanchez will be crucial if Arsenal are to secure another top-four finish.
But Arsene Wenger insists it was not a risk playing him on a plastic pitch, despite leaving Danny Welbeck out of the squad so as to avoid a repeat of his knee injury.
Wenger said: "He is a guy who has a strong body.
"I think on this pitch it is the guy who does not have good co-ordination, who is heavy on his feet, who is in trouble.
"Alexis is more a guy who has very good co-ordination, he is light on his feet. I don't think it was a risk.
"We could not afford a light team selection tonight and that is why I came with basically all the players who were available because we couldn't afford to go out tonight, we can never afford it."
