Hornets owners the Pozzo family have repeatedly made clear to the local press that Juanfran is not in their plans at Vicarage Road.

A loophole in Spain’s transfer rules states that clubs can make ’emergency transfers’ outside the January and summer windows if they sign players already based in the country.

But Juanfran would not be able to play in the Champions League as Barcelona's squad has already been submitted.

The Catalans lost 4-0 at PSG last week and are likely to turn their attention to the La Liga campaign barring a miracle in the second leg at the Nou Camp.
