DELE ALLI was sent off for a horror tackle against Gent - just as Tottenham's Europa League hopes were hanging by a thread.
The England international was vying for a ball in midfield when it escaped his reach and he lunged in high on Brecht Dejaegere's shin, studs first.
The referee had no option but to send the playmaker off - with replays showing that the challenge could do lasting damage.

It is Alli's first ever red card of his career, which may surprise many who have criticised some of his tackling attempts in the past.

At half-time former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas said on BT Sport: "It's a shocker, a terrible, terrible challenge from Dele.
"He's obviously disappointed not to get a free kick earlier, but it's a leg breaker."
And Harry Redknapp added: "It could have finished the guys career, it was disgusting."
Dejaegere was clearly left in huge discomfort after the lunge, but insisted to his bench and the physio that he was fine to continue.
The Gent man then spent the whole of the half-time interval on the pitch, testing out his leg, and resumed for the second half.
