LEEDS UNITED are set extend Garry Monk's stay at Elland Road by 12 months.

A number of Championship clubs are eyeing his situation with his current contract set to run out in the summer.

The Daily Mail report the Yorkshire side are relaxed about the current situation and a new long term deal for Monk could be in the pipeline if they are promoted to the Premier League.

The Leeds hierarchy - Andrea Radrizzani and Massimo Cellino also have the option of just extending the former Swansea boss's contract by 12 months at the end of the season to fend off any suitors for his signature.

United are fourth in the race for the Premier League, seven points off Brighton in the second automatic spot.

The 38-year-old has is highly thought of at Elland Road and has bounced back following his sacking at Swansea in 2015 after 11 months in charge.
Monk, who replaced Steve Evans last year on a 12 month deal has been linked with the vacancy at Rangers after the departure of Mark Warburton last month.
