Rooney appeared to be showing no sign of any fitness worries when he came off at Old Trafford on Saturday, while Shaw did look to be limping a little.

But the left-back took his seat in the dugout when he was replaced and did not need any immediate treatment.

Neither Rooney or Shaw have been regular first team starters in recent months as Mourinho kept faith with a more settled side without them.

And the United boss was understood to be frustrated at his side's failure to take three points against the Cherries which again saw them miss out on the chance to move into the top five in the Premier League.

The pair join Bastian Schweinsteiger out in the cold for a Europa League match growing in importance by the week as United struggle to make it up into the top four in the Premier League.

Victory in the competition guarantees and automatic spot in the Champions League next season, meaning this could be United's best chance of returning to Europe's premier competition.

Mourinho is at least able to welcome Henrikh Mkhitaryan back into his plans after the attacking midfielder recovered from a hamstring strain suffered in the last round.

Mkhitaryan may return straight back into the starting line-up, and with Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial also travelling Mourinho has plenty of options aside from absent Rooney.

United are also without defender Eric Bailly, who was sent off as United beat St-Etienne in the last round.
