Until Christian Eriksen's brilliant display against Everton last weekend.

The Dane has now surpassed the former West Ham pantomime villain, creating 78 chances to Payet's 74.

Eriksen had suffered a slow start to the season, but is now getting into his stride.

With Payet in the South of France, it would appear the closest contender for the Spurs star's chance creation crown is now Man City's Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian has provided 71 opportunities for Pep Guardiola's side.

Next up is Alexis Sanchez, who has created 64 opportunities for Arsenal.

On 63 chances created, Everton's Ross Barkley is sandwiched between the Chilean and his fellow Gunners contract rebel Mesut Ozil, who has set up 61 opportunities.

Barkley also assisted Enner Valencia for a late consolation goal at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners with a double from Harry Kane and a Dele Alli strike too much for the Toffees.
