MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN says his nightmare spell at Manchester United saw him fall out of love with football.

Schneiderlin endured a torrid 18-month spell at Old Trafford following his £25million move to the club which saw him make just 47 appearances in total.

The French international ended his stay at United in January with a £20m switch to Everton - and now says he is finally starting to enjoy the game once more.

Schneiderlin, 27, said: "I did lose my joy of football a little bit because when you don't play, you don't play with freedom and everything is very hard.

"Since I've come here the manager knows what I'm all about. He placed confidence in me in the past and he has done so again. It's a joy to work with him every day.

"He knows how I want to play, he knows my strength and it's a case of him giving the best product, if I can say, to be the best player I can.

"I'm very happy to find this joy of football again and hopefully it will carry on for me."

Schneiderlin has already started to make his mark at Goodison Park where boss Ronald Koeman is giving him more freedom to express himself on the pitch.

The former Southampton star has already made seven Premier League appearances for Everton and scored his first goal for the club in last weekend's 3-0 win over West Brom.
