IT looks as though the first Manchester derby outside England will take place in San Diego this summer.

The event has been some time in the making.

Manchester United and neighbours City were due to play each other in the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing last July, but torrential rain made the pitch unplayable.

So the pre-season friendly was abandoned.

The two rivals agreed to reschedule the match at a later date and talks have progressed well in recent weeks.

Now it seems United and City are looking to face each other principle to play each other as part of the International Champions Cup.
