Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traore fires Ajax into Europa League quarter-finals as Lyon, Besiktas and Schalke all go through

Anderlecht, Genk and Celta Vigo will all be in the hat for the last eight draw

CHELSEA loanee Bertrand Traore helped inspire Ajax's second-leg comeback to book their place in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Trailing 2-1 to Copenhagen in the first-leg, Traore headed home the opener before a Kasper Dolberg penalty ensured the Dutch giants went through 3-2 on aggregate.

Elsewhere Roma's 2-1 win wasn't enough to get past Lyon as the Italian's left themselves too much to do following a 4-2 first-leg defeat.

They went behind through Mouctar Diakhaby before Kevin Strootman and a Lucas Tousart own goal sealed a win on the night but defeat over 180 minutes.

Schalke came from two-goals down to knock out league rivals Monchengladbach on away goals.

The home side were two goals ahead at half-time but a fortunate goal by Leon Goretzka and a controversial Nabil Bentaleb penalty saw Schalke put their name in the hat.

Ten-man Besiktas booked their place in the Europa League quarter-finals after thrashing Turkish rivals Olympiakos 4-1 in the return fixture.

After a 1-1 draw in the first-leg, goals from Vincent Aboubakar, Cenk Tosun and a brace from Ryan Babel ensured a 5-2 aggregate win despite Tarik Elyounoussi's away goal.

But they will be without striker Aboubakar for the quarter-finals after he was sent off for headbutting an opponent.

Spanish side Celta Vigo cruised past Krasnador after their 2-0 victory away from home ensured a 4-1 aggregate win.
