Kylian Mbappe scores twice as Monaco thump Caen 3-0 in Ligue 1 showdown on Sunday

Manchester United target netted his 16th and 17th goals of the season as Fabinho also scored from the penalty spot

IT took Kylian Mbappe just 13 minutes to find the back of the net as Monaco raced into an early lead against Caen.

During the Ligue 1 clash, the Manchester United target, 18, used his pace, strength and skill to work some space before rifling the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

Another Premier League target, Fabinho, scored from the penalty spot early in the second half to double Monaco's lead away to Caen, before Mbappe added a third late on.

Mbappe has burst onto the scene most prominently in the past month or so, having netted 11 times in his past nine games, as Monaco now boast the most lethal strike-force in Europe.

The French star even scored once as Monaco won 3-1 against Manchester City in the crucial Champions League last-16, second-leg, as well as another in the first-leg at the Etihad.

Monaco are indebted to Mbappe recently as his goals have helped fire them to the top of Ligue 1, as they look to finally end Paris Saint-Germain's dominance.

Meanwhile, they are also set to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals after their dream run this year.
