Russian side Baltika Kaliningrad travel 13,000-miles for longest away match trip in world at Luch Vladivostok, taking handful of fans… to watch a 0-0 draw

Luch-Energiya travelled nearly 6,500miles each way bore the bore draw in the second tier of Russian football at the weekend

YOU know the feeling, taking the long trip to Manchester or London or Newcastle to watch your team play.

Those 200 miles or so can feel like the longest trip ever… particularly if it’s a snooze-fest when you finally get there.

Fans travelled a whopping 13,000miles to see their side play

But spare a thought for the hardcore Russian fans of Baltika Kaliningrad who made the 13,000-mile round-trip for their side’s game with Luch Vladivostok at the weekend.

Keep up to date with ALL the football news, gossip, transfers and goals on our club page plus fixtures, results and live match commentary.

The club – based in the western city of Kaliningrad- went all the way to the east, that’s 6,441miles one-way, to see a goalless game.

Although it’s unsure if anyone decided to drive the monster journey – which would take 133-hours non-stop – the flight alone was 14-hours each way.

Certainly not a game you could do in a day, that’s for sure… after all, that journey is ONE-QUARTER of the way around the entire globe.

Again, all for a 0-0 Russian second division game.

Only a handful fans attended the game, with just a few of those actually making the trip to west.

Manchester United travelled 4,500miles for their game with Rostov

To put it all in perspective, Manchester United‘s trip to Russia for the game against FC Rostov saw the club travel 4,500miles in total… less than a one-way, cross-country trip.

The longest journey in England as a whole involves Carlisle and Exeter at 778miles, while the European record – played between Benfica and Astana – sits at 7,500miles.

Bournemouth vs Sunderland is the longest trip on offer in the Premier League

As for Luch however, they’re used to the distance… after all their shortest away day is a 1,000-mile round-trip.

So far removed from the majority of the league are the club, that their fixtures are meticulously designed to ensure all games are grouped in such a way as to limit their astonishing amount of travelling.
