The 30-year-old Leicester ace doesn’t believe Foxes fans are responsible for the outpouring of hatred towards himself and his family.

However he says the massive wave of resentment whipped up in the wake of Ranieri’s sacking has made him a marked man – on and off the pitch.

Leicester’s players were depicted as SNAKES on social media after their form plunged and they landed in a relegation battle which cost Ranieri his job, with many critics claiming they had deliberately stopped trying for the Italian.

Vardy revealed “Once that is out there people pick it up and jump on it and you’re getting death threats about your family, kids, everything.

“On social media, you name it – walking down the street. To be honest I get them (death threats) every week.

“Football fans don’t seem to like me that much. A lot of false accusations were being thrown out there and there’s nothing us, as players, could do about it.

“I just get on with it but when people are trying to cut your missus up while she’s driving along, with the kids in the back of the car, it’s not the best. It’s happened plenty of times.

“It’s terrifying.”

Although the police have been informed about his family’s shocking ordeals, Vardy admits there is little the authorities can do to prevent the hatred shown against him, particularly on social media.

He said: “All that can happen is they get banned on Twitter.

“People get cut up on the road but if there are no cameras, you’re screwed.”

Vardy says he has become used to being on the wrong end of sick abuse from opposition fans – but admits things have got out of hand when his family are being dragged in to it.

He said: “I get abuse at every stadium that I turn up at. To be honest, you are always going to get stick from fans.

“It is part and parcel of football.

“I couldn’t tell you why I get it, but it’s part of the game. I am not really fussed about it on the pitch. It’s fine by me.

“But when you’re getting death threats about your family, kids everything, that’s terrifying.”
