BARCELONA are set to agree a new deal with Lionel Messi - and finally put an end to any hope Manchester City had of landing the Argentine superstar next summer.
Spanish media outlet Sport are reporting Messi has expressed his desire to stay on at the Nou Camp, as his contact expires at the end of next season.
Talks have advanced about a new mega bucks deal between the players father and agent Jorge and the Barca hierarchy.

There had been some tension between the two camps in previous contract talks, but this time Sporting Director Robert Fernandez insists talks are going smoothly.
"Messi will renew, I have always said that."Fernandez told Cadena SER.
"Leo is happy in Barcelona, really happy here, and in a magnificent team. I have no doubts that he will renew."
Manchester City had been linked with a sensational summer move for the five time Ballon d'or winner, as Pep Guardiola looked to link up again with Messi, as the Spaniard looks to overhaul his squad at the Etihad.

Both camps do not look to be in any hurry to conclude negotiations and Messi who moved to Barcelona in 2001 with his family, could announce his new deal with the club at the end of the season.
Neymar signed a new long term deal at Barcelona last October and the other third of the 'MSN' trio Luis Suarez renewed his contact a month later.
Messi was on target again as Barcelona beat Valencia 4-2 on Sunday and took his tally to an astonishing 40 goals in 41 games this season.
