SEAMUS COLEMAN is facing an uphill battle to feature in the remainder of Ireland's World Cup campaign.
Coleman is undergoing surgery in Dublin on Saturday after he suffered a double break of his leg following a horror tackle by Wales full-back Neil Taylor, who was red-carded.
The Ireland captain will have screws inserted in his right leg and is expected to be sidelined for at least six months.

That rules him out of the home game against Austria on June 11 and the double-header away to Georgia and at home to Serbia in September.
And it would leave him in a race against time to feature in the final two fixtures at home to Moldova and away to Wales in October.

Martin O'Neill kept his counsel about Taylor's tackle and Gareth Bale's lunge on John O'Shea moments earlier which earned him only a yellow card.
That was on the basis of having seen them only in real time but he has since viewed replays and is understood to be unhappy with the recklessness of both.
Both he and Roy Keane visited Coleman in hospital on Friday night ahead of the Everton star's surgery today.
