German u21 international had been linked with Reds but opts to stay in Bundesliga
LIVERPOOL have missed out on midfield target Mahmoud Dahoud.
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed they will sign the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder in the summer.
The fee has previously been reported at being around £8.5million.
The talented 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season for Monchengladbach, although the club are in mid-table.
Dortmund transfer mogul Michael Zorc said: “Mo Dahoud is a highly talented and exciting player.
“We have been watching [him] intensively for several years.
“He has already demonstrated that he can play at the top level.”
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had been monitoring the defensive midfielder for the last year but has been beaten to his man by his former club.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said: “It was important for the player and the club that a decision was reached. Now it’s off our minds and we can move on.
“Borussia has shown in recent years that we can compensate well for losing players of his quality.”
“We will reinvest the money we get for #Dahoud and try to find a good replacement for him.”
