ARSENAL will escape Premier League action if found to have played the second half of their 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday without a captain.

It appears the centre-back failed to hand over the armband in the dressing room so the home side had no skipper for the final 45 minutes.

Senior Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Nacho Monreal started the second half but none were seen with armband.

There were no flashpoints in the second period that required Andre Marriner to speak with the nominated skipper.

Manchester City were denied a penalty in the final minutes when Monreal handled the ball but got away with it.
