FOOTBALL boss Eddie Howe has become the first in the Premier League to call for gay players to come out.
The Bournemouth manager insisted it was only a matter of time before one did.
He said: “Football is heading in a direction of openness and acceptance and that’s the way it should be.
“I can see openly gay players in the future. Society is different now, people are more accepting.”
Howe, 39, told magazine Winq he would sign a homosexual player “without hesitation”.
He added: “The first player to come out in the Premier League era will be defining and I think other players will follow suit.
“A happy player is a better player. If coming out makes them feel that way, then better that it’s done.”
No current Premier League ace has so far said he is being gay.
