Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale provide injury scares as Real Madrid beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in Champions League clash

Zinedine Zidane enjoyed a brilliant result at the Allianz Arena, but it was not all good news with problems to two key men

DESPITE leaving Munich with an incredible result, it was not all good news for Real Madrid as Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to pick up knocks.

Los Blancos came from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead back to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.

He said: “Bale felt something and, as always, I don’t want to risk it.

“Right now, he’s in pain, but I hope it’s nothing serious. It’s a muscular injury.”

And there was further bad news as Ronaldo — who scored two on the night to complete a century of European goals — looked set to complete his hat-trick when he jumped for a header.

However, he missed the ball and landed awkwardly.

The full-time whistle was blown moments later and, as Real Madrid players celebrated a crucial win, Ronaldo was receiving treatment from the physio.

Los Blancos are three points clear of Barcelona in La Liga, having played a game less, and face a trip to 18th place Sporting Gijon at the weekend.

They haven’t won the title since 2012.

Real Madrid welcome Bayern Munich to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their quarter-final in six days’ time.
