Ander Herrera dropped for Manchester United’s Europa League clash with Anderlecht despite starring against Chelsea
Spain midfielder was rested by the Portuguese who wants him fresh for Burnley
ANDER HERRERA was rested for Manchester United’s massive Europa League clash with Anderlecht by Jose Mourinho on Thursday night.
The Spain ace had a fine game in the 2-0 Premier League win over Chelsea on Sunday, dominating Blues star Eden Hazard and scoring the second.
But he was only offered a place on the United bench for the home clash as Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were picked ahead of him.
Man United boss Mourinho said: “It is impossible for Herrera to play every match unless you are the only centre backs we have in the team.
“Mentally we played against the leaders and it is important to have a bit of rotation.
“Sunday we have another important match against a fresh team.
