Manchester City transfer news: Pep Guardiola handed £250m transfer kitty… and has Alexis Sanchez, Kyle Walker and Virgil van Dijk on his shortlist
The Manchester City boss will be desperate to turn his side into title favourites next season after a disappointing season
MANCHESTER CITY manager Pep Guardiola will be handed a £250million war chest to create his own team.
The bulk of the current Etihad squad are players he inherited from Manuel Pellegrini.
So the Spaniard has been given the green light to get FOUR key players and make City title challengers after missing out this season.
Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk and Tottenham right- back Kyle Walker are his main targets.

He also wants a left-back and is looking at Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy and Luke Shaw from city rivals United as suitable candidates.
Lyon defensive midfielder Corentin Tolisso is also being watched.
Guardiola expects a major scrap for Sanchez with Chelsea also monitoring the Chile star’s contract stand-off.
The City chief, who worked with Sanchez at Barcelona, said: “How do big clubs improve their teams?
Better players. So, of course, big clubs around the world are going to know his situation.”
Lionel Messi was standing in Sanchez’s way at Barca.
And Guardiola added: “Messi creates that. All the players who go there and start to train with him immediately feel like they can’t compete and that they’re below.
“Even the big, big players who believe that they are top, they understand that Messi is unique.
“But Alexis is just one step below. Of course Alexis is a fantastic player and I’m so happy how he’s playing at Arsenal, especially this year scoring goals.”
While Guardiola is eyeing new signings, he is also set for a big clear out of his squad.
Yaya Toure, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Willy Caballero are all out of contract in the summer.
