Mauricio Pochettino says he will not let Dele Alli and Kyle Walker speculation disrupt Tottenham’s season

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has said he will not allow speculation about Dele Alli and Kyle Walker disrupt Tottenham's season.

After another scintillating season, the PFA Young Player of the Year has sparked the interest of Real Madrid, while Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to bring Dele Alli to the Etihad, Barcelona legend Xavi has claimed.

Alli has bagged 21 goals in all competitions and has been a vital cog as Spurs continue to mount pressure on league leaders Chelsea.

If history is anything to go by then Spurs fans fear that Alli may join the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric who have both left the club in recent years for bigger things.

Asked about the future of Alli, Pochettino said he "cannot guarantee" anything in the future - although he referenced the sudden death of former youth team coach Ugo Ehiogu last week.

Pochettino said: "I cannot guarantee anything in life.

"The most important thing is to enjoy the present and don't think about the future.

"I am so sad [after Ehiogu's death], enjoy the present, don't think about the future.

"In the future we will take the best decisions for the club.

"After three years you can see how the team is improving every year and all our decisions so far have been good.

"Trust in the club that we will take the best decision to achieve things, to improve next season again. That's the most important thing.

"We care a lot about the club and now we must focus on the present to try to help the team be there is Chelsea drop points.

"In the last three to four weeks I want a big effort from everyone to achieve. Then we can congratulate everyone and try next season."

Spurs take on London rivals Crystal Palace on Wednesday hoping to keep their outside chances of winning the title alive.
