Luka Modric and Marcelo were two of the players who failed in their efforts to tackle him, and according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Ronaldo lambasted the two in the dressing room after the full-time whistle.

The Brazilian left-back has since taken blame for the goal, and said: "I take the blame for the last goal but it can happen to anyone."

Madrid's boss Zinedine Zidane was also left frustrated that his side - who had Sergio Ramos sent off, should have been more clever when defending.

He said: "You get 2-2 with ten men and then you have to use your head a little bit more, be together to defend."

According to Spanish TV, the 25-year old said to the Uruguayan: "You lost to Juventus 0-3. Rest to play in the Copa del Rey. And watch the Champions League at home."

Before adding after the full-time whistle: "This is the home of the champions… Off to rest, to the Copa del Rey."

Real Madrid are second in the table due to a weaker goal difference, but they do have a game in hand over Barcelona.
