SHAW BLOW

Luke Shaw likely to miss rest of the season after suffering ligament damage to his foot

Manchester United star Shaw limped out of draw with Swansea and is set for yet another spell on the sidelines

LUKE SHAW is likely to miss the rest of the season after scans revealed he has suffered ligament damage in his foot.

Shaw limped out of Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Swansea - with boss Jose Mourinho saying he expected it to be bad if the full-back felt he couldn't play on so early in the game.

But Mourinho's squad has been decimated by injuries to several key players, especially in defence.

Centre-back Eric Bailly also limped off against Swansea and the club are still awaiting for the results of scans on his injury.

It leaves United operating with a severely under-strength squad as they approach a daunting run of six games in 17 days that will decide their season.

And it is also a major blow to the United hopes of Shaw himself with his future at Old Trafford already in doubt.

Boss Mourinho has been an outspoken critic of Shaw this season and has often snubbed him from his matchday squad even when he is fit.

The left-back has endured a torrid time at Old Trafford since his move from Southampton, interrupted by a shocking broken leg while playing in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven in 2015.

Despite his sturggles to establish himself in Mourinho's side this season there is still plenty of interest in Shaw should United decide to sell - with Tottenham and Liverpool among the clubs who have been tracking him.
