JESUS NAVAS is set to stay on at Manchester City, scuppering any chance of a return to Sevilla.
Goal are reporting the winger, who is out of contract this summer, will be handed a new deal to extend his stay at the Etihad by another year.
The 31-year-old winger, who has not scored for City in 100 Premier League games, was open to a return to Sevilla, the team he left to join City in 2013.
City boss Pep Guardiola has decided Navas can provide cover at full-back next season, and has told the club hierarchy to keep him around for another year.
Guardiola has a decision to make about five other members of his squad who are free agents this summer.
Yaya Toure, Gale Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta and Willy Caballero's futures are all up in the air, with talks due to commence at the end of the season.
But a string of good performances at right-back last month has won Navas another deal at City, and could spell the end for Sagna and Zabaleta at the Etihad.
Guardiola said:"I'm really impressed with his performances as a full-back, he's a guy who can go up and down, but he's not just a fast player.
"Jesus has this quality - normally fast players can go four times up and down."
"He can do that it many times, look at the balls he's saved, we cannot forget he played against [Eden] Hazard, he played against Alexis [Sanchez] and he was brilliant."
Guardiola added:"Now he can play again and again because he's convinced me he can do it at a high level."
