Marcus Rashford wants to become a one-club man like Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes
Talented youngster has come on leaps and bounds under Jose Mourinho as he eyes an extremely long stay at Old Trafford
OLD TRAFFORD whizkid Marcus Rashford is ready to follow in the footsteps of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes as a one-club man.
The teenager has talked up spending his entire career in a Manchester United shirt after his amazing first year.
Rashford, 19, has a long way to go before joining club legends like Giggs, Scholes and Gary Neville in the United hall of fame.
But he insists players stand out more by staying loyal rather than making moves during their career.
When asked if a one-club player still exists, Rashford said: “Definitely! I think even more so now, because you stand out if you’re that person. Especially if you achieve something and win things.
“Some people are here, there and everywhere — but the ones that stay loyal are the ones that stand out.”
In an interview with magazine, Rashford spells out how happy he was to start in the club’s academy.
And the striker reveals the thrill at training with his heroes after Louis van Gaal gave him his spectacular breakthrough last season.
Rashford, who netted four goals in his first two United games, said: “It’s Wayne Rooney! The player I watched when I was growing up — the main Manchester United player for me and my mates.
“I’m used to it now. I get to call him Wazza, too, which is kind of weird.”
He reckons United now have stability again, with boss Jose Mourinho laying the foundations after taking over from Van Gaal in the summer.
Rashford said: “I think we’ve found stability and we’re all working hard together — the players, the manager — to find that within the team. I think that’s important for everyone.

“It’s been difficult because you’re used to Van Gaal’s coaching style and the way he is around the building, the way he speaks to you, then, all of a sudden, everything’s different.
“It takes getting used to but it’s part of the game now. And like I said, if we are finding stability then hopefully we won’t have to keep changing managers!”
Rashford earned United a valuable 1-0 lead going into Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Celta Vigo.
His free-kick strike was his fourth goal in as many weeks after struggling mid-season.
He said: “Consistency, that’s what I’m looking for. Sometimes it’s difficult with not playing all the time but when you get consistency, that’s what brings you up another level.”
And he insists that Mourinho is the best man to take him and United in the right direction.
Rashford added: “For me and all the younger individuals it’s amazing to have him around. He speaks to you on a daily basis — not always about football, sometimes about general stuff.
“He’s the right man to bring the team back to where we want to be. Obviously it is Manchester United, it’s the biggest club in the world and the ambition is always to win everything.
“But we have to take it step by step. We’re improving as a team and as individuals.”
