GARY NEVILLE ran a gauntlet of hate every time he played at Anfield.
While he certainly never felt any love at Manchester City or Arsenal.
However, he has revealed the most memorable he ever heard was at…Fulham!
And it was cracker, to be fair.
Red Nev revealed: “I played at Fulham one day and all of a sudden this chorus started on the right-hand side where I was playing, singing: ‘You’re just a s*** Phil Neville.”
He along with the rest of the room burst out laughing.
Neville’s undisputed passion for his beloved Manchester United made him the type of player rival fans loved to hate.
And the Red Devils had plenty.
After receiving dog’s abuse from Liverpool supporters in 2006, Neville half the length of the pitch to celebrate a stoppage-time Rio Ferdinand winner.
A gesture which saw him fined.
While, then City boss Mark Hughes criticised him for overly celebrating Michael Owen’s famous derby winner in 2009.
Now a pundit, Neville has received widespread praise for his refreshingly honest and unbiased views.
He spent his entire career at United and is one of the most decorated English players of all-time with eight Premier League medals and two Champions League successes.
