David Moyes agrees with Alan Shearer’s damning verdict on ‘pathetic’ Sunderland flops
Black Cats boss says the SunSport columnist is backed by stats and warns his players to think again if they want a Prem move
DAVID MOYES agrees with Alan Shearer’s damning assessment of his “pathetic” Sunderland flops.
And the Black Cats boss believes any of his players who want a Premier League move should think again.
SunSport columnist Shearer slammed Sunderland for their lack of effort in Saturday’s 2-0 home surrender to Swansea.
Moyes admitted: “In many ways he was right. I am privy to the physical stats, and on much of that I couldn’t disagree.
“I was incredibly disappointed. I hoped to have had a better output.”
But the Scot has now told his squad that they DO have plenty to play for against Arsenal tonight and Chelsea on Sunday — because they must impress if they want to have a top-flight future.
He added: “Many of the players probably believe they have futures elsewhere.
"But you need to perform on the pitch to do that.
“And for most of the season you’d have to say they are not showing that.

“But in these next two games they’ve got a chance to show that they see themselves as Premier League players and are fit to be at that level.
“You get recognised or picked up because of your record of what you do, so let’s hope we get some good performances.
“Everyone has seen it has been a difficult dressing room all year.
“We have been unable to get a good enough spirit to make sure we got results in a lot of games. It’s been a problem.”
Moyes will meet owner Ellis Short on Monday or Tuesday next week to discuss his future.
Moyes said: “I’ve laid out the plans about what I would like, what I think it needs. Ellis knows what I think it should look like.”
