Champions Bayern, who won their fifth title in a row this season under Carlo Ancelotti, have picked a striped effort that harks back to their dominant teams of the 1970s.

The stripey kit is similar to the one worn by Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller and Karl-Heinz Rumminegge - that side won three European Cups in a row from 1974 to 1976.

The kit is made by German sportswear giant adidas and modelled by Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller.

Designer Jurgen Rank said: "The new jersey is inspired by one of the most iconic jerseys they had in their glory past.

"At that time, Bayern were basically dominating European football.

"The club and us thought it was time to bring back this great design, but obviously in a modern way."

"The horizontal stripes with the colour gradient are really cool."
