FACTS, STATS, GOALS & LOLS

  • The home fans were disappointed Michael Keane was not fit enough to return after injury. They sensed it would have been a chance to bid the central defender farewell – former club Manchester United head a posse of clubs keen to sign him.
  • West Ham’s injury crisis meant they named just six subs instead of the usual seven. They included 18 year olds Declan Rice and Dan Kemp, who had never featured at senior level.
  • Burnley were pleased to see Hammers captain Mark Noble was among the absentees. He scored the winner in the two previous matches between the club, with the Londoners coming out on top 1-0 on both occasions.

  • Burnley’s achievement in staying up was recognised by the owner of one of the local pubs, who paid his own tribute to the Clarets manager with a sign reading: “Sean Dyche drinks here – for free!”
  • Dyche said survival was achieved far more easily than most people expected. He pointed out his club were in the bottom three only once this season, after they lost their opening match 1-0 at Swansea.
  • The West Ham supporters brought along a huge selection of inflatable toys and frisbees to play with –no surprise after their team looked as if they were already thinking about the beach during last week’s 4-0 stuffing against Liverpool.

  • The match started with a minute’s applause for former Burnley captain Peter Noble, who died at the age of 72 earlier this month. He made 299 appearances for the club, scored eighty goals, and is best remembered as the ‘penalty king’  - he had a one hundred per cent success rate from his 27 spot kicks.
  • Sam Vokes’ strike to open the scoring as his tenth in the Premier League this season, making him only the second Burnley player to reach double figures. Danny Ings was the first, two seasons ago.
  • Wales striker Vokes has clearly found his feet in the top flight. He has now scored five times in his last five Premier League games – it took him 58 games to score his first five, after missing out completely two seasons ago.
  • Sofiane Feghouli’s equaliser was West Ham’s 27th away goal this season. with Ayew stretching the tally to 28. No team outside the top six has scored more on their travels.

WHAT THEY SAID

Bilic said: "We've had eight major surgeries this season. We've had ten players out for long periods. It's scary.

"Considering that, and the stadium move too, we've done well."

Dyche said: "This is a small negative in a positive season. The game should have been out of sight for us at half-time."
