Alvaro Morata breaks Premier League hearts with £52m deal to leave Real Madrid for AC Milan
Arsenal and Chelsea have both kept tabs on the striker with Arsene Wenger making two bids for him as a Madrid youngster
AC MILAN are close to landing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in a £52million swoop that will end Chelsea and Arsenal’s interest in the forward.
Arsene Wenger fancied the young attacker for years when he was coming through at Madrid but failed with a couple of bids to land him, letting Juventus sign him in 2014.
The La Liga kings exercised their buyback clause last summer and reclaimed the Spain international for £28million.
But Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Lucas Vazquez have kept him in the shadows and he completed just FIVE league games from 14 La Liga starts last season.
The 24-year-old is interested in a return to Italy and Milan are ready to pay him massive money to lead their line.
Blues boss Antonio Conte knows the forward well from their time at Turin together and he has had to keep his eye out for attacking options with Diego Costa’s future ever unclear.
But he will miss the boat with Morata as Milan’s new Chinese owners have splashed out to wrap up the deal.
Rossoneri Sport Investment will pay the frontman around £125,000 a-week to secure his services for the next five seasons.
The goal getter was seen in floods of tears at his side's end-of-season celebrations leading fans to admit their fears over his future away from the Bernabeu.
The sleeping Serie A giants are keen to revamp their squad and are close to landing another Chelsea target in Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie.
The famous San Siro side also parted with around £15m for Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio.
