ARSENAL are set to offer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new £100,000-a-week contract in a bid to keep him away from Liverpool.

The Gunners winger is enjoying a summer break after having an indifferent season at the Emirates, that ended with a strong finish and an FA Cup winner's medal.

But according to reports, boss Arsene Wenger is determined to tie him down to a new contract in the first few weeks of the off-season, with the flier's deal set to expire in just over 12 months' time.

The 23-year-old's representatives had been surprised the club had left it so late to start negotiations over a new deal.

In December his team were left puzzled when Wenger claimed negotiations had begun over a new contract, and they claimed they had not.

And according to the , the Frenchman is determined to make good on his promise by offering fresh terms.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been well used in Wenger's switch to a 3-4-3 during the last couple of months of the season as the Gunners went on a strong run of form.

He was deployed as a left wing back in the 2-1 Cup final win over Chelsea, and had a stormer.

And the Ox has been attracting interest from Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, with the Kop boss keen to bolster his ranks.

The Reds, unlike Arsenal, have Champions League football on offer next season, but they have to negotiate qualifying first.

Oxlade-Chamberlain would only need to look at the form shown by Three Lions team-mates Adam Lallana and James Milner to show how Klopp can help a player find their best form.

Both players have been magnificent at times during last season, but the Reds nearly missed out on a coveted top four spot, mainly due to Arsenal's late-season surge.
