Arsenal’s unveil Sead Kolasinac as first summer signing on free transfer from Schalke 04 in subtle Twitter post
Kolasinac joins from Schalke and is an ideal fit for the left wing-back role if Arsene Wenger sticks with 3-4-3 formation
ARSENAL have announced their first summer signing with the free transfer of Sead Kolasinac.
The Schalke star has been on the brink of joining the Gunners for weeks, with his contract about to expire.
The club took to Twitter to announce the news in a subtle Twitter post detailing the names of players signed by Arsene Wenger.
Wenger has moved to strengthen at left-back after using Nacho Monral and Kieran Gibbs there this season.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was even deployed to great effect at wing-back in the FA Cup final win over Chelsea.
And Kolasinac, 23, offers a strong option in the position if Wenger decides to retain the 3-4-3 next season.
The Bosnian even introduced himself in a brief video informing tongue-tied Arsenal fans how his name should be pronounced.
The versatile defender has played at centre-back and holding midfield before excelling at wing-back this season.
Gibbs, 27, has been linked with a £15m move to newly-promoted Newcastle to make way for the Bosnian.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea had all been keen to secure Kolasinac's signature in one of the bargain deals of the summer.
