Huddersfield boss David Wagner has agreed a new deal at the Kirklees Stadium to lead Terriers into Premier League
German coach has taken the Terriers into the Premier League for the first time in their history and was linked with a move away from Yorkshire last season
DAVID WAGNER has agreed a new deal with newly promoted Huddersfield Town.
The 45-year-coach is set for a bumper pay-rise after masterminding promotion in his first full season, after arriving from Borussia Dortmund Under-23s.
The Yorkshire side beat Reading last month in the Championship play-off final on penalties, to secure promotion back to the top flight for the first time in 45 years.
Wagner's agent John Morris has revealed his client had offer to leave the newly promoted side from England and back home in Germany.
Morris said:"David Wagner is staying at Huddersfield Town and a new contract is agreed in principle, following talks between myself and the chairman Dean Hoyle last week.
"David and I have received approaches from other clubs in Germany and England but we felt that the journey with Huddersfield has another story to tell.
"Preparations for the Premier League are underway with David and the hierarchy at Huddersfield."
Wagner looked to be leaving the then Championship side in December, but decided against returning to Germany to manager Wolfsburg.
West Ham and Aston Villa has also shown interest, but the German coach will now look to build a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League next season.
