Over the years Saints have proved to be a tidy breeding ground for future Liverpool players.

Adam Lallana, Nathan Clyne, Ricky Lambert and Sadio Mane and Dejan Lovren are amongst those who have moved to Merseyside.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to reinforce his squad in preparation for the Champions League.

Tadic, aged 28, is thought to have a £13m release clause in his contract which the Reds are happy to activate.
