Mourinho is also said to have contacted Morata personally to give him assurances over the significant role he has in mind for the striker.

De Gea is set to stay at United after being targeted by Champions League winners Madrid.

And his efforts to convince Morata, along with Herrera, have provided another boost to Mourinho.
