And the 24-year-old has not managed to displace Karim Benzema in Zinedine Zidane's Bernabeu starting XI having rejoined the club of his youth from Juventus last summer.
He was prolific at Juve, having come through the ranks at Real before a 2014 move - and if he can reproduce that form, it will be a huge coup for United boss Jose Mourinho.
Either way, it is set to be a huge summer deal if they can beat the likes of Chelsea and AC Milan to Morata's signature.

But he favours United and is reportedly set to net a staggering £19.4million per year - a touch over £370,000 per week for the man who scored 15 goals in 26 games last season.
And if he signs the rumoured five year deal, he will earn a massive £97m during his spell in the Premier League.
But that is not all - as with any major football star there is other money to be made in the form of image rights, which will see him earn £1.7m per year on top of his base wage.
United are reported to have made a £60million offer for Morata — £10m short of the La Liga champions’ valuation of the striker – but the final fee is expected to be ironed out today.
And while he thought he would be playing a lot more at Madrid, Mourinho has reportedly told him he will be one of the main men at Old Trafford if he joins next season.
He is said to have called Morata’s agent and told him his player “will be important”.
