Leicester sign Hull defender Harry Maguire for whopping £17million after impressing last season

The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year deal and will link up with his team-mates in early July

LEICESTER CITY have signed Hull defender Harry Maguire for a whopping £17million after impressing last season.

The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year deal and will link up with his team-mates in early July for their pre-season camp in Austria.

Maguire "There were a number of clubs interested, but when I met the manager here, he pretty much swayed it into the direction of this club.

Maguire, 24, has grabbed a Premier League lifeline, as the Tigers drop back to the Championship.

And Craig Shakespeare’s Foxes will pay the centre-half £80,000 a week for the next five years after the former champions were rebuffed in their bid to sign West Brom's Jonny Evans.

Leicester wasted no time in agreeing terms with Maguire who completed a medical yesterday.

Leicester will pay £12m up front with £5m add-ons.

Hull were reluctant to lose Maguire but he was in the final year of his contract and wanted to remain in the top flight.

The swoop means Wes Morgan, 33, and Robert Huth, 32, face competition for their places. But Leicester have no plans to move them out.
