Stoke issues hands-off warning for Xherdan Shaqiri as Roma look to replace Mohamed Salah

Serie A side are looking for a winger to replace Mohamed Salah following his recent move to Liverpool

STOKE have issued a hands-off warning to Roma regarding the availability of Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Serie A side are on the search to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who signed for Liverpool in a deal worth £36.9million.

But despite Roma's interest, Stoke chairman Peter Coates is confident he can keep hold of Shaqiri, insisting he is happy with the Potters.

Coates told the : "No, there is nothing in that.

"There are no plans to sell him either. He seems very settled with us and towards the end of the season he came back [from injury] and did well.

"We are settled with him, too, and are hoping to see a good season from him next season."

Shaqiri has shown glimpses of his top form with the Potters but on the other hand he has also struggled to consistently perform at the top level.

The 25-year-old has also suffered a number of injuries while playing at the Bet365 Stadium which has not helped him maintain his form.

But the former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan star has treated the Premier League to some wonder strikes, including his stunning goal against Hull in April.
