Burnley want Stoke’s Jon Walters and make £3million bid with striker growing frustrated with lack of first-team chances
Republic of Ireland international falling down pecking order under Mark Hughes and could join Clarets to revive career
BURNLEY have reportedly made a £3million bid for Stoke’s Jon Walters.
The Irishman is out of contract in a year’s time and has become unhappy with his lack of chances under Mark Hughes.
Walters, 33, has spent seven years at Stoke but is now looking for a change of scenery.
And the claims Sean Dyche has made the first move to sign Walters as he looks for more goals.
Burnley scored the least amount of goals last season, excluding relegated trio Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull.
And with Andre Gray a transfer target for Everton, more strikers are needed at Turf Moor.
Burnley have also been linked with Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez, who faces an uncertain future under new boss Mauricio Pellegrino.
But it seems that star defender Michael Keane will be on the move, with Everton again keen to do business with the Clarets.
Meanwhile, Stoke are interested in Boro’s Ben Gibson and Inter Milan’s Jeison Murillo, although they face a fight to keep Xherdan Shaqiri at the club.
