FORMER Prem champions Leicester City are willing to play the waiting game in their attempts to sign Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson - as they deem Boro's asking price as too high.

The Foxes have been told it will cost £25million to bring the defender to the King Power Dtadium but they are unwilling to pay and are ready to bide their time.

The centre-half is on their list of possible targets as they continue to try to bolster their defensive options but Boro would prefer to keep hold of the 24-year-old.

However Leicester are yet to make a bid as the asking price is deemed too high.

Leicester face stiff competition from other Premier League clubs however with Everton looking to continue their summer spending spree.

Southampton are also keen on the defender but like Leicester they are unable to pay the high asking price and will wait for the price to go down.

Tottenham are also looking to bring in Gibson however like all clubs interested they will play the waiting game to bring down the price of the England Under-21 international.

It is likely that any deal for Gibson will not resolved till the end of the window as Middlesbrough are reluctant to sell.
