LIONEL MESSI has flown back to Barcelona to put pen-to-paper on a new contract just one day after tying the knot, according to reports in Spain.

Among the guests were many of Messi’s Barcelona and Argentina team-mates.

But the 30-year-old was straight back to business as report he took a private jet back to Barcelona the very next morning to sign a contract extension and end the speculation surrounding his future.

The Argentina captain’s current deal ends at the end of this coming season.

And, with no signature forthcoming, there were reports he was ready to leave the club he had been with for his entire career.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Man City, Paris Saint-Germain and several Chinese Super League clubs had been keeping a close eye on developments.

But, he is now expected to see out his career with the Nou Camp giants.

After flying to the Catalan capital, Messi will be reunited with his new bride where he will resume his summer holiday.

Barcelona face an historic pre-season friendly against Real Madrid in the U.S. before facing their El Clasico rivals in the Spanish Super Cup double header to kick off the 2017-18 campaign.

New boss Ernesto Valverde had made securing his main man’s signing as his No.1 priority after replacing Luis Enrique in the Nou Camp hotseat at the end of last season.
