Crystal Palace won’t pay £30m for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho as Frank De Boer targets FIVE players with money

New Palace boss will look elsewhere as to add to his squad this summer and is eyeing move for Ajax defensive pair Joel Veltman and Kenny Tete

CRYSTAL PALACE could be priced out of a deal for Mamadou Sakho, but boss Frank De Boer is convinced he can sign FIVE players for Liverpool's £30million asking price.

Sahko was a massive influence when he arrived at Selhurst Park in January under former boss Sam Allardyce and were hoping to extend his stay beyond the summer.

According to the Liverpool have not budged on their £30m valuation of the Frenchman who had no future at Liverpool last term after being frozen out by Jurgen Klopp.

The 27-year-old has returned to Melwood to continue his recovery from a knee injury that cut short his loan stint at Palace last season.

Talks have reached an impasse and the Dutchman will move on to other targets he feels are more value for money, including Ajax defensive pair Joel Veltman and Kenny Tete.

Full-back Tete has a year left on his contract and has been given permission to speak to others clubs with the Eagles expected to be one of the interested parties.

De Boer who was confirmed as the new Palace boss last week is looking to bag Veltman and Tete for a cut-price £10million.

The Dutch coach needs to beef up his squad before their opening game of the season against Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town.

Palace have been linked with a shock move for former Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie.

The Dutch striker is looking for a way out of Fenerbahce and De Boer believes the 33-year-old's experience and knowledge of the English top flight could prove vital.

Another defensive alternative to Sakho could be Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

Blues boss Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to add another central defender to his ranks, which could leave the young Frenchman out in the cold.

The Eagles have lost Joe Ledley, Frazier Campbell, Mathieu Flamini and Zeki Fryers as free agents and striker Loic Remy was sent back to Chelsea after a disastrous loan spell.

De Boer has been in close contact with club captain Jason Puncheon at the Beckenham training ground since his arrival last week and will run the rule over the squad before deciding how to add to his options.
