, they received a positive response.

They were told that the forward is available and are now plotting their move.

Remy, 30, first moved to England in January 2013 as relegation-threatened QPR beat a host of clubs to his signature.

They splashed out around £8million to land the hitman and he responded with six goals in their failed attempt to beat the drop.

Loic Remy factfile

  • The striker was born in Rillieux-la-Pape in France on January 2, 1987
  • He joined Lyon's academy in 1999 aged 12 and eventually made his debut in October 2006
  • Following a loan spell at Lens in 2008, Nice splashed out a record fee to sign him 2008
  • After 26 goals in two seasons he was signed by Marseille
  • In January 2013 QPR forked out £8million for the hitman
  • Despite his impressive form, he was unable to keep the Rangers in the Premier League and joined Newcastle on loan the next season
  • His exploits on Tyneside led to him moving to Chelsea in August 2014
  • After failing to establish himself in the starting XI he signed for Crystal Palace on loan last season - but played just five times in an injury hit campaign

Not wanting to play in the Championship, he then joined Newcastle United on a season-long loan.

He produced some of his best football on Tyneside and bagged 14 times in the Premier League to earn his big move to Chelsea in 2014.

The Blues activated a £10.5m release clause in his contract at Loftus Road to bring him across West London to Stamford Bridge.

However, he has failed to hit the heights since his arrival and has found the net just eight times in the top-flight.

After two years of limited football he was packed off to Palace on loan but failed to find the target in an injury-hit campaign.

The frontman would unlikely cost Rennes a huge fee and is out of contract at Chelsea next summer.
