LEEDS UNITED keeper Rob Green is being tracked by Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

The experienced keeper who started all the Championship side’s league games last term has a fight on to keep his place at Elland Road following the arrival of Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen.

The German keeper moved to Yorkshire on a three-year-deal for £500,000, so will expect to be first choice for the opening game of the season at Bolton on August 6.

His arrival raises questions about the future of Green, who moved north from Queens Park Rangers last summer.

The 37-year-old stopper is contracted at Elland Road for another year, but new Black Cats boss Simon Grayson would welcome the keeper’s experience at the Stadium of Light as he plots an immediate return to the top flight.

Sunderland lost highly-rated Jordan Pickford to Everton last month and need to land a top class keeper with the new campaign just weeks away.

They are also close to landing Aiden McGeady who will be reunited with his old Preston boss Grayson on Wearside.

The Black Cats are hopeful of securing Everton youngsters Brendan Galloway and Tyias Browning as well ahead of their Championship challenge.

Monk threw the keeper a lifeline at Elland Road after his Rangers exit last year.

Boro are on the hunt for at least one new keeper following the exit of Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan, who moved to MLS outfit Atlanta United.

The Teessiders are also looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and are looking to spend big on Nottingham Forest striker Britt Asombalonga.
