Swansea to battle Huddersfield in race to seal £2m deal for Barnsley full-back Andy Yiadom
SWANSEA and Huddersfield are battling to complete a £2million deal for Barnsley wing-back Andy Yiadom this week.
The 25-year-old is also on the radar of Reading in the Championship but has been offered the chance of playing in the top flight.
Premier League newcomers Huddersfield have moved swiftly in the transfer market since promotion and Yiadom is one of their next targets.
Paul Clement is also looking to strengthen his squad at Swansea and get his new players at the Liberty Stadium to get a full pre-season with them.
Yiadom has made a stunning rise from non-league football and League Two with Barnet before catching the eye of clubs in the second-tier.
He moved to Barnsley a year ago but only has a year left on his Oakwell contract, sparking interest in taking him on a cut-price deal this window.
Yiadom, who can play on both flanks, was called up to the Ghana squad as reward for his fine form and he went to the African Cup of Nations.
Swansea have a relationship with Barnsley after signing Alfie Mawson from them.
The Terriers added Scott Malone to their ranks yesterday, in addition to the signings of Steve Mounie.
David Wagner has also signed Elias Kachunga and Aaron Mooy, to permanent deals.
And Laurent Depoitre, Tom Ince and Danny Williams have all arrived at the Kirklees Stadium.
