JONNY HOWSON will have a medical at Middlesbrough today.
Boro boss Garry Monk is on the brink of beating his old club Leeds to land the midfielder from Norwich.
Howson, 29, is set to agree a deal to be part of Monk’s promotion campaign after the final touches of the deal is completed.
Leeds sparked a £5million battle for Howson when it emerged he could leave Carrow Road after six years at Norwich.
He is still a fans’ favourite at Elland Road, where Monk left at the end of last season before getting the Boro job.
Howson was among his targets when he arrived at Boro and he is on the brink of bolstering his squad with his experience.
He was promoted with the Canaries when they went up through the play-offs in 2015, beating Boro at Wembley to seal their place in the top flight.
The midfielder started his career with Leeds, coming through their academy in 1997 as a trainee.
