GAEL CLICHY is set to sign for Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

The former Manchester City left-back will undergo a medical today before signing what is reported to be a three-year deal.

Clichy, 31, left was released by City at the end of last season along with fellow full-backs Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta.

Sagna has been linked with a return to Ligue 1 while Zabaleta joined West Ham.

Istanbul Basaksehir - who SunSport told you were linked with a move for Ashley Young - finished runners-up in Super Lig last season, four points behind Besiktas.

That means they have jumped into the Champions League third qualifying round.

Clichy will also be joining a club with the tightest defence in the Turkish top flight.

Abdullah Avci's side conceded just 28 goals last term and went 17 games unbeaten - the best all season.

Basaksehir announced Clichy's arrival on Twitter yesterday.

The former France star is understood to have agreed a deal worth more than £2.5million per season.

Clichy joined the Etihad side from Arsenal in 2011 and made 141 appearances for the club in all.
