Liverpool refusing to lower their £30m asking price for Mamadou Sakho despite lack of takers

Crystal Palace interested in signing defender after successful loan but have no intention of meeting Reds' huge valuation

LIVERPOOL will not budge over their £30million asking price for Mamadou Sakho.

The French defender, 27, has not played for the Reds in 15 months after a series of disciplinary issues.

Crystal Palace are among clubs making enquiries after Sakho had a spell on loan last season, but are unwilling to stump up the price tag.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton says he wants defender Joe Gomez, 20, on loan — but admitted. “It will be up to Liverpool.”

Sakho impressed during a six-month loan spell at Palace last season.

And it’s those performances during the renaissance under ex-chief Sam Allardyce which has led to Liverpool sticking to their guns.

The France international famously fell on the wrong side of boss Jurgen Klopp while on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the US last summer.

And the chances of Sakho pulling on a Reds shirt again is extremely slim despite Lucas Leiva closing in on a move to Turkey.

But depending on the levels of interest, Liverpool may be forced to drop their asking price for Sakho later in the window.

Stoke City have also shown a willingness to enter talks but are believed to be looking at a loan deal.
