Wayne Rooney reveals secret he wore Everton pyjamas for the last 13 years while at Manchester United

WAYNE ROONEY has confessed a secret that he wore Everton pyjamas around the house during his 13 years at Manchester United.

The England international re-signed for the Toffees on a two-year deal after departing Goodison Park for Old Trafford in a £27million switch in 2004.

Talking of his move back to Everton, the 31-year-old shared a secret which shows his true passion for the club where his career started.

He told the : "It feels great and to be honest, I have kept it quiet for the last 13 years but I actually have been wearing Everton pyjamas at home with my kids, so I had to keep that a bit quiet.

"It's great, it feels as special as it did 13 years ago and I am just looking forward now to getting back on the pitch."

With Rooney going to sleep in Everton's colours, it's clear he has always supported the Toffees during his time with United.

Rooney made a staggering 559 appearances for the Red Devils, where he scored 253 goals.

Along with his pyjama secret, Rooney said his first game back in an Everton shirt will be an 'emotional day'.

He added: “I’m ecstatic — I just cannot wait to get back playing.
